This post was previously published in English, but I have now been translated into Danish - Some things have been updated
I will now describe how the day went, the first time I arranged something for the Copenhagen Strobist group on flickr . The last 14 months (June 2009), I attended several meetings with Copenhagen Strobist. But this time I was the organizer. I had a chat with one of my friends strobist ( Me, Charlotte ) in February for example. The Black Diamond could be an interesting place to photograph, and I decided to start arranging it.
The first was the permissions in the house, so after several emails and phone calls with the Royal Library / The Black Diamond, I had arranged a tour, so my daughter and I looked into. So now it was started, and I could start a new thread on flickr to announce the day when we were there.
Here are some spot images from the Royal Library:
On the day we would meet at the library at 7.30, it was to get access to one of the more special places: the reading room. So at 7.00 I got two models in Valby and headed in at the library.
At 7.20 we arrived and there was now a lot of people. This day we had 10 photographers, 7 models and MUA (Make-up artist). There should have been another MUA, but she had settled and was unable to attend.
At 7.40 we reached the reading room and started setting up our equipment. I beat myself with another photographer (Mikkel Eggers) and we worked together to get the pictures in the box, with great success. We could have used an MUA more because Ósk was fairly busy putting on make-up of 7 models. This gave approx. 20-30 minutes of effective photography, when it was necessary that we were out of the reading room at 9.00. Slightly stressful for all parties.
Then we continued to the next location, the archives - This was an impressive place. 5 floors of books, the only rule was that we have not moved on the books - AT ALL! And we could stay there as long as we wanted. Mikkel and I was still working together, and we found a floor without lighted lamps.
After a few hours in the archive, we had lunch in the cafe, and moved us out into the public space of the library. Now we moved around more in small groups of 2-3 photographers who were spread more throughout the library.
We left the library at 14.30, after 7 hours of fascinating photography.
After planning this event for more in a month, I would try to tell what went wrong and everything just worked.
What went wrong?
- We lost a MUA
- Although I had contacted all MUA'er on ModelMayhem and another MUA I have worked with, we had only one. And with 7 models, it took much time to get them ready for fotografering.Selvfølgelig we could use something that photographers striving to make ourselves ready, but there was still some time where you just waited for the models were prepared.
- Maybe we should have been there already at 7.00 - Just to MUA'en had had more time, but had we had the extra MUA had the problem may not have been there.
What went well?
- Nearly all came
- We lacked only a model and a photographer, so it was a large crowd.
- There were many new friendships and great pictures that day.
- Super place to photograph, I will definitely go a second time.
Here are my pictures from the day:
