New gadgets
So I got me some new gadgets that I can use in connection with photography.
The first and greatest new thing I got me an iPad 2 and it is actually the one I use right now to write this post. The other gadget is an iPhone 4, and I must admit that it was only when I ordered my iPad that I realized that it was a good idea to stick to the same platform. Because with an iPad and iPhone apps can be shared between devices, and the things my wife buys for his iPhone, I can also install without having to purchase programs 2 times.
And the last is a camera connection kit, a small plug I put in the bottom of my iPad, and then I can copy photos directly from my Nikon D700 to my iPad - That way I can quickly browse through the pictures and with an app I can actually give pictures stars, rating and sync to my Lightroom.
And to start with I will discuss how I used my iPad, my connection kit and my Smith Photo app to help me over the weekend.
One family had asked if I wanted to photograph their daughter's confirmation and I did, thanks yes, then when we arrived at the church I had taken pictures before, during and after the confirmation. Then there was an hour before we went to the party, so we got a drink somewhere else and I had put my gear together.
Here I have connected my camera with USB as my Nikon D700 uses Compact Flash I can not put the card directly into the adapter.
Connection Kit for iPad, USB in kit and USB from my camera. That way I could import all the images in (my iPad is 32GB) and then with App Photo Smith, I could quickly write keywords, give from 1-5 stars and color-coded images.
When we got home at night, I opened Lightroom on my PC and start the synchronization from iPad to Lightroom. The images were then imported the Collection I had done was added - And of course, all my stars and color codes.
Since it is still an App that is under development, one way. not work with your existing Lightroom library - It all has to go through Photo Smith - But it is one of the features they are working on.
It is definitely an app I want to come in the photo, read more about it on http://blog.photosmithapp.com/index.php/photosmith-the-grand-tour/
I bought my camera kit with MIC Gadget http://store.micgadget.com/49-card-readers , but remember that there will be duty and VAT on the price (it did for me), so it is 199, - you must lie on the price. And so I should probably have read the description a little closer, and ordered a Compact Flash reader.
Mark Wallace from Adorama TV , has made a 10 minute review of Photo Smith where he reviews all the possibilities in it.
